Hi friends,
I am working on plasmonic photothermal therapy (using gold nanostructures).
I used cancer cells and fibroblast cells in my study. In this research, I found out cancer cells are more vulnerable against laser illumination than normal cells. I don't know exactly what is mechanisms or factors which engage in cancer cells death (apoptosis).
If anybody knows will be appreciated to help me.
I need prove based knowledge (please cite references).

This has to do with the specific heat of various tissues; cancerous tissues having a lower specific heat than the healthy tissues, their temperature increases faster than normal tissues on absorbing the same amount of electromagnetic energy. Ultimately, overheating kills these cells, and of course if the temperature of various tissues on radiation are not carefully monitor, the patient will be killed as a result of the damage inflicted to healthy cells by the same process. My guess would have been that the concentration of plasmonic particles is much higher than in normal cells. Due to the uncontrolled growth, they have a much higher need for nutrients which require much more blood vessels.
