We used to perform isopropanol precipitation of DNA isolated from plant tissues but had a lot of polysaccharides as contaminants and while going through different literatures we found the use of PEG for precipitation of DNA and when we tried it yielded better results. But I could not find any literature explaining the mechanism involved in precipitation of DNA by PEG.
