It is an well-established fact that increasing the aging time of the precipitate while synthesizing HA influences the kinetics of the HA crystals which increases its size. But I am looking for a more well-defined scientific reason and the physics behind the growth of crystal size when the HA is aged while synthesis.
All materials in small size, such as nanostructures. have some tendency to aggregate due to their high surface area and become more stable on aggregation.On aging of a nano sample such as HA you will give the NPs more chance to attach to each other and therefore their sizes are increased unless you have an efficient attractant to prevent the aggregation.

I'm not an expert, but my recollection is that the surfaces can be disordered and therefore there is an energetic reason for the growth of more ordered crystals
