I tried to estimate the correlation coefficient of AOD with water precipitation, and AOD with visibility for a short period of time. I found that for a long term data set, researchers have also measured good correlation at polluted cities. I am curious why it gives less correlation value, if we perform our study for a few months data?
Consider the impact of seasonality in understanding this relationship.
The low correlation between AOD and precipitation or with visibility can be observed even with a long series of data for reasons related to the climate of the studied space and the seasonal variability. If there is a rainy season and a dry season in your study space, try to calculate the correlation for each of these seasons.

Aerosol optical depth measurements are performed in a cloudless sky (and, of course, in the absence of precipitation). Therefore, the problem of finding the correlation between AOD and precipitation makes little sense.
