Taenia sps egg are identified by 2 important characteristics : 1- Hexacanth embryo 6 hooklets ( 4 are distinctly visible ). & 2- Thick radially straited brown shell.

If all taenia spp egg have these characteristics, then why these hooklets don't develop in the sucker of adult taenia saginata ? If all taenia spp eggs don't have these characteristics, why don't we use hooklets as identifying character to differentiate saginata and solium ? Why litreture are saying there is no different in egg but difference in adult ?
