Why a reflection seismic profile on land usually is not so clear compared with under ocean bottom for shallow strata?

I see in many papers the reflection seismic profiles for shallow strata are not clear (showing blurred images), whereas those obtained on ocean surface for shallow strata under ocean bottom are much clear (e.g., can show clear structures of strata, BSRs, and etc.).

Is it the ocean water has a filter effect? How does it work? Thank you.
