The environmental strains of A. baumannii was able to survive at high temperature. Most of strains could grow maximally between the temperature range of 28-44°C. Some strains could resist higher temperatures up to 53°C. Hrenovic et atl, 2014 stated that, the extracellular polymeric substances EPS of A. baumannii may have an protective role under unfavorable environmental conditions (low pH, desiccation, and high temperatures). Do any one have another exolanation? Why it is able to survive at high temerature? Which mechanisms are based on this? Which pathways are known?
I do not doubt that extracellular polysaccharides might play a part of bacteria thermoadaptation process. In addition check out the defensive pigmentation such as melanin. The organisms in hot springs and extreme environments have high coloration in many instances. Melanin for instance can absorb radiation which is dangerous and transmute it into energy which is not only not dangerous but beneficial. Another area of interest is the production of heat shock proteins. Finally it is considered that cellular membranes are altered in extremophilic organism which aid in the resistance to degradation of critical cellular structures.

Yes I found an article regarding Pyoyomelanin production in Acinetobacter baumannii, but the bacteria in this case produced brown color and we donot observ any colortion in strains we have. I found also A. baumannii is able to acquire thermotolerance by expression of of DnaK and GroEL proteins but the theory is not completely proved.
When I worked with Ralstonia solanacearum it was found that as isolates lost their extracellular polysaccharides in culture their virulence was compromised. EPS can be lost based on in vitro cultivation switching off those genes in some way.
