We are interested in studying the impact of video learning and blended learning approaches on student confidence and exam performance. Content and delivery system are available and covering MCAT, USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 CK. What we need is a setup that ensures reliable tracking of exam scores without reporting bias and ideally a control group. The content would also be suitable for MBBS, Royal College curricula etc.
Really interesting setup. I studied it longitudinally with video learning+traditional small group teaching first followed by blended learning+mentoship for the following groups. But the time bias was difficult to control for. Therefore I would recommend a randomized approach with both ongoing at the same time... just to add anothes challenge to you

I'm very interested in t he topic (seeing as we are in the process of starting a new medical school and are building our curriculum right now). There have been general outcome comparisons done for medical students, but these have generally been limited to comparisons between entering years' classes, since curriculum/content delivery tends to be an "all or nothing" endeavor. (Broadly, there was not a significant difference in outcomes on USMLE.) I heard in conversation of one medical school that did a trial of a small portion of their entering class using the "new" curriculum (self-directed, system-based, case-based) and the rest traditional and would hope that the experience was written up, but have not had time to check (being buried in preparations for submission to LCME ;).
I would like to learn more about the impact of these factors on students performance especially on the MCAT.
