Also, the material you are using must be their in the library of Silvaco, otherwise you have to define the materials parameters in the code itself eg. band gap, affinity, work function etc. or include the material parameters in the library of silvaco. For searching of materials that are in the library, go through its manual.

Thank you Aparna Sathya Murthy and Gaurav Siddharth for your valuable information. I am using ZnO material. As it is not available in the library, I have defined the required parameters. But then also the available photocurrent is zero. ZnO is widely used in photodetectors and it has a promising absorption in the UV region. Please help for the same.

You have to take care of the following things:

- You have to be sure about the photo absorption curve of the ZnO.

- You must be sure that your incident light is of suitable wavelength that it will be absorbed by the material.

- You must be sure about the lifetime of the minority carriers in ZnO.

-You must be sure that the metal contacts to the ZnO are ohmic.

Do you measure the photoelectric effect.

If yes, then measure the I-V curve without illumination and without illumination.

Then you illuminate it and see how its resistance is changed.

As absorption of ZnO is only limited to UV region only photogenerated current is very very small depending on the intensity of light of appropriate wavelength. Moreover minute current may also lost during the transport and it depends on the device structure.
