I have been trying several published protocols, but I only get to see the HSP of interest localizing to the internal face of the cell membrane. I see the HSP being exposed to the surface by FACS so I am pretty sure it is there. Any suggestions? Thank you!

You dont mention which are the methods you already tried, so I'll just suggest the most obvioud method (to me): surface biotinylation. It is done on live cells, and you can use it for imaging, protein purification, or you can just analyse the whole lysate on a western blot. Any protein that was exposed on the cell surface at the point of labelling will have a biotin label. Its a standard method to analyse surface proteins. If you google it, you'll find links to kits and references.
