Which way to go...Open source or non-open source publication?

Open source requires article processing fees, which goes up to USD1500.00 while non-open source source requires subscription fees or purchase of article by readers. While on one hand I pay, on the other readers pay. Therefore, which one is beneficial to authors like me?
