Hi there,
It would be wonderful if someone could help me out here!
Currently, I am conducting a study to explore the relationship between all of the Big 5 Personality Traits and Innovation (broken down into 4 steps: idea generation, elaboration, promotion, and execution).
The Big 5 Personalities were tested through a 50 item 5-point Likert scale survey, and each innovation step was tested through a 7-point Likert scale survey. I am going to run the analysis in SPSS.
As such, I have a few questions:
1. Do I need to standardize the results? (i.e. Personality is 5 point scale, Innovation is 7 point scale)?
2. When determining the strength of each of the traits, would it be better to average the results from all the questions regarding one trait? (i.e. the 10 questions on a 5-pt Likert scale on extraversion would be averaged) Or, would it be make sense to add them (i.e. the 10 questions on extraversion would be added to be something out of 50).
3. What would you think are the best ways to conduct the analysis? I was inclined to use Pearson's R in SPSS, but are there better options? I would be happy to learn.
Thanks in advance!
