I tried bubbling it in acetone, but it does not retain organics. The solution is then analyzed by GC/MS but only acetone and its derivatives are detected.
pyrolysis liquid will normally contain water soluble and insoluble organics. first try to extract the water soluble components and analyse separately. The organics part can be solubilized using any polar solvents methanol, ethanol or iso-proponal. Try any of these instead of acetone. please find the link below which may be helpful.
effectively I found polar solvents have great affinity with organics such as furan derivatives and lactones were dissolved in methanol, while hydrocarbons (alkanes, alkenes) were dissolved in n-pentane or cyclohexane.
