An interesting question. You have not highlighted the purpose of analysis , that dictates heavily the selection of method for leaf washing. For example , phyllosphere microbiome versus typical chemical analysis for different nutrients versus analysis for different metalloenzymes .

Before answer, i don't know for what you have to use these leafs. My response concern the best drying method to use for your samples. But if you have to do chemical extraction of some molecules, you have to look for substances wich your molecules have not any interaction.
The best solution to use for washing your leaf samples is the distilled water ( there is no interaction with your leafs), and you let them until the water is drained from samples and then you dry.
The drying methods are much but the choise is depending on if you have equipment for drying and wich one is.
I think that the natural drying with solar drying is better. Why? because the temperature isn't high. The natural drying allow to maintain the color of leafs. Important substances or molecules aren't volitilized or destructed like using another mode of drying where the temperature are higher and there is no respect of your sample.
Another, type of drying is to use the Lyophilisation, but this method is so expensive and energivore. But you can obtain a good final ptoduct with an optimal residual moisture wich can preserve your product for long time.
