I would like to calculate heritabilty for the maize Inbred lines, which are evaluated in two different season with two replication.which softwere will be useful for calculating heritability across the environement?
PBSTAT (pbstat.com) is a good webpage that does the calculations for you. As of now the website is down due to a domain expiration, but the variance components. Multiple environments and years can be done in this site.
I would also recommend PLABSTAT.But I have one comment. I would not say heritability and instead I would call it repeatability. Repeatability and broad sense heritability mean the same thing if we consider the ratio of genotypic to phenotypic variance. However the heritability is a misleading word, as heritability implicates that the trait is inherited from one to the next generation. However, sometimes the expression is used for one generation with no genetically constant selection units (hybrids, crosses) which are evaluated in different environments with varying repetitions per environment. Here the expression repeatability is more appropriate, so how repeatable is a trait when assessed in 2 compared to 4 environments. The repeatability of a trait increases the more replications are conducted in terms of field repetitions, repetitions across environments or in the same environment across years.
