Oh, that's a tricky question. Well, SE models each have their context in which they can be applied, e.g., regulated environments, iterative and client-centered development, etc. To provide a meaningful answer, you should provide a bit more context information. Which part of the software is the subject (UI, logics?), who are the stakeholder asking for on-demand software, is it academics-only or industry software, and so forth.
I don't know whether this answers your question: If you are working in a regulated environment, you should consider a rich process that ensures the required documentation being created. However, most of these models do not describe the software development act (coding) as such, but provide a framework to organize software development. That is, you need to add certain micro methods anyway. If you are interested in such methods, you should have a look at the Agile practices, e.g., pair programming, continuous integration, etc. Nevertheless, as mentioned before, it really depends on your actual context. In practice, we often find combinations of different models, e.g., in Germany, the V-Modell XT is combined with Scrum and/or Kanban, and RUP-based processes are also combined with XP and/or Scrum.

Best Answer to your query is use agile, either lean or scrum ,or you can use scrum-ban, or lean-ban depending upon your requirement.
waterfall is an old method ...agile method is now commonly use to develop system requirements but there is many new methods to develop software in nowadays to with new technology in software engineering
