I am presently doing a Masters in Environmental Economics. I want to do my thesis in water sector or estuarine environment of Bangladesh. I need your suggestions about a topic that will be appropriate for Bangladesh environment for my thesis.
When you want to make a study, the problem is not the place to do it but if your research will be bring something new in the science.
I suggest you to begin to make a good litterature review in the context of your study (like you have mentioned in your question asked) and thein you can identified the problem that your study could be help to answer.
You can also discuss with your supervisor; with his/her experience, his/her can more give you some orientations.
this will allow you to avoid for exampl to do a study that has been done in the past.
Well, There are lots of phases where we are contaminating our-self and drinking to death. The two fastest growing industries in our country are textiles and pharmaceuticals, are the backbone of exports, but they come with a price, the most expensive price we are paying by contaminating our surface water.
Recently, some studies showed, the resistance of antibiotics in our (Bangladeshi) body, overdose or unnecessary prescription of antibiotics is not only the reason for this, it is well established that, in a human body, more than 90 % of prescribed drugs ends up in sewerage wastewater released from our body. and we (and you as native) are well aware of the fate of wastewater. In a cycle, people are drinking antibiotics contaminated water in many parts of the country. So, it is necessary to have a study on the scale of contamination in different cities of Bangladesh.
Besides overdose of the drugs, the pharmaceuticals industry waste is a huge concern for future of our country. This is same for the textile wastewater.
So, considering these issues, i believe, working on "investigation of the scale of toxicity and the price we are paying (from our country´s public health, ecotoxicity, and overall economic perspective ) for contaminated surface water" is a need of time.
Thank you Haruna. I am interested at your suggestion. Can you suggest me any paper related to this or any method best fitted to this sort of analysis @ Haruna Ezekiel
