You find a relevant work of identifying details regard to the main topic of studying. Do you want to study the impact of flood area such as inundation? What do you mean by large and small areas? Do you have a budget to purchase satellite data? A general answer would be that there are many satellite sensors could be used such as Landsat images (30m resolution), Sentinel-1 and -2 (20m resolution) for medium resolution and MODIS for course resolution (250-1000m). These are free of charge data and you can easily download from earthexplorer website (https://earthexplorer.usgs.gov/).
