I am using EnergyPlus to simulate a green roof. In the Output:Variable list, which item should I select if I want to obtain the building surface temperature beneath the planter box?
In my model, the planter box is placed on the roof, and I would like to monitor the temperature at the interface between the planter bottom and the building roof surface. Any guidance or examples would be appreciated.
In EnergyPlus, the building surface temperature beneath a planter box can be obtained using the output variable: Surface, Outside, Face, Temperature... for the surface in question. This variable reports the temperature of the exterior face of the building surface, accounting for all external influences, including shading devices, overhangs, and in this case, the planter box. To monitor it specifically beneath a planter box, you must ensure that the planter box is modeled as a shading or shading-with-surface object correctly positioned above the intended building surface.
