I am planning to do FosTRAP experiment. I have Fos-creERT2 mice and I order tamoxifen (TAM) and 4-hydroxytamoxifen (4-OHT). TAM was used for this experiment in many previous papers, but most recent papers use 4-OHT rather than tamoxifen. I think the main reason is the temporal resolution. TAM is usually injected 24 hours before the behavior or stimulation, but 4-OFT is usually injected 2-4 hours after behavior or stimulation. Is it better to use 4-OHT than TAM to do FosTRAP experiment? Is FosTRAP data using tamoxifen not acceptable for publication nowadays?
