Here are pictures of two SHSY5Y flasks maintained by two scholars.
One shows shrunken discrete pointed morphology and the other has comparatively large morphology, with both skind-of-spindle shaped cells and omelet shaped cells. All four pictures are taken in 10x (with slight cropping).
The highlighted omelet shaped cells look like S-type to me.
Maintenance condition for both flasks: DMEM-F12, media changed every 3rd day. Trypsinization for 5 mins in 0.25% trypsin 0.02% EDTA solution.
Which of these are healthy?
I'm not sure it is a question of health,but of selection of cell behavior in culture. To my eye, the Dr.ADGlab cells look more like the ATCC images, if you have the line of the cells with adherent cells only.
