Which methods do you use to investigate coating shrinkage on edges?

Coating shrinkage on edges is among the top engineering topics in paint development. Conventional methods for investigate coating shrinkage on edges are limited and elaborate. Which methods are you using?

A few years ago we had a study on dip coatings in our institute and for this purpose we used a micro-CT system with which the coating thickness could be determined non-destructively and at any point.
