I would like to use mEOS to tag proteins to evaluate their subcellular localization. I am new to PALM, and am a bit confused with all the different versions of mEOS available... mEOS2? mEOS4?
Is there a current "standard" version that is most commonly used, or what is the state of the art?

Why don't use the blinking dye (If you can use some tag if need cellular or just the one mentioned in last line if you are doing in vitro studies)?
If you need for cellular tagging and mEos only then use mEosEM version which is more photon brightness. This is bit different in some amino acids from mEos4b, so it's like mEos2 then mEos3, 3.2 (I guess) mEos4a and b and mEosEM in this order from least (first) to most useful (last).
The mEosEM is most recent and most photon compared to all other. you will need high Photon for the better resolution and data analysis plus BG reduction.

I think after number 650 "B" denote blinking I am not sure but get the Blinking version only.
and protein tag mEosEM as mentioned above.
