Generally Ankistrodesmus species are normally cultured in CHU 12 medium. The link provided by Hamed Ghanaatian is a good reference for growing them on seaweeds extracts and balanced NPK media. The following link is also a good source of inofrmation on the topic.
However modified Bold Basal Medium (BBM 3N), Bristol media, Proteose media can be used and are used by culture centers. However comparative cultivations of the species have been performed on BG 11 medium in recent times .
The maintenance of higher growth rates can be achieved through aerating the BBM or any other basal medium with pure CO2 with high success rates.
Cultures maintained on BRSP medium or AES medium also yields spectacular growth under optimal photoperiod.
Algae are primitive organisms. Their cultivation can mostly be successful in the field especially in cement ponds/pools or natural space where stored exposed water is there in sunlight. Algae needs fresh sunlight for the growth by photosynthesizing. They are also first orgnisms on this land to start process of photosynthesis. Therefore artificial light in the laboratories is mostly not that much feasible for them.
