I am trying to identify the best journals to rely on for my research as well as publication needs related to safety management system evaluation, development, and empirical research. Please share your thoughts on which ones to look to, and why you would recommend them. Thank you!

A starting point is the ABS ranking of journals. If you search on Google for it you will get list of respected journals 3 or 4 or 4plus star that can provide you some direction.

Hi George. I disagree here. I would even suggest to ignore ABS's Academic Journal Guide (AJG). ABS has recently published a 2018 version of the AJG. I have analyzed it in the following blog post and came to the conclusion that it does not reflect the quality of journals in our discipline at all -- with damaging consequences for our discipline (JCR impact factors and the VHB list seem to be more reliable, but also here we should be careful with such metrics): https://scmresearch.org/2018/03/14/ranking-journals-academic-journal-guide-2018-abs-list/
Thank you to you both, @George Onofrei and @Andreas Wieland. It remains difficult to decide where a safety management paper fits best, since safety seems to get lost in supply chain and operations or general management journals, and I was asking safety researchers if they could choose the best safety-specific journals to publish within. My searches have led me to a few such journals, though impact factors are quite low, and I think this is because safety remains an underresearched and underpublished theme.
