I find your result a little puzzling. (1) What was the temperature you used; you do not need to heat this reaction, especially if you used some (20-50%) MeOH as the co-solvent, (2) If for whatever reason the substrate is so sensitive, you do not need 3 equivalents of hydroxide to do the hydrolysis, I would use 1.2 equivalent, just don't use much solvent (maybe 10 volumes (10 mL/1 g) will be sufficient.
I didn't heated the reaction. I did the reaction at rt in 2h, but I used a concentration of 20ml/1g. The next time I'll try with a more concentrated mixture and 1.2 eq.
