when i try to download fundamental data from WRDS, COMPUSTAT/SRSP it always came across a problem. Some companies will show data for full period while other will not provide for the entire period. Despite the fact that the company is active. What could be the possibilities? What is the systematic way to cope with such situation? If some one has the data of total assets, total revenue, cash, short term investments, share prices, common shares outstanding please share it with me.
I tied to use COMPUSTAT. The issue is i can only download the data for active constituents. However, i want to have a complete time series data of a specific tickers

You'll get balance sheet and income statement data for US firms from Compustat.
If companies do not report data for the entire period, this could be because the company was formed after your earliest sample period hence the data is not available for that time, or could be because the company did not supply the data to Compustat in some periods.
Bear in mind, that database (e.g. compustat) can only store data that is made publicly available by companies. If companies do not share their data, it will not be included in the database. Some industry regulators in the US can compel all firms in the industry to disclosure all information to the public (e.g. banks) from a specific time period, when this is the case, compustat will have full access to bank data. On the other hand, other industry regulators in the US do not compel all firms in the industry to disclosure all information to the public, when this is the case, compustat may not have complete data for company in that industry.

Yes i observed the same. I am downloading data from compustat. the issue is when a stock is active on the S&P 500 its data is available otherwise missing. I don't know how to cope with such a situation? for example a company is active on S&P 500 for the period 1990-2000 its data is available. after the period 2000 the company is not listed as constituent of S&P 500 so the data is missing. despite the fact the company is still operating in the US market.
Depending on the use you forsee for the statements, have you looked at the Securities and Exchange Commision's EDGAR information. If you know the names of the firms, it is relatively easy to get the information.
I also use EDGAR. If necessary I resort to manual data input rather than downloading, as I find downloading presents too many errors in terms of (a) mis-classifications from year to year (b) classifications other than those I wish to analyse (c) reliance on somebody else's clerical accuracy. I realise my way is the slow way but it gives me data sets that are more useful to my research.
I use Morningstar. Thank yiou for the other sources.
