Hi everyone,

I am searching for a DNA sequence for a particular gene from nucleotide database of NCBI. But it shows 2 or more sequences of one gene in same species. If it is due to duplication event, then ideally it should show only 2 sequences, one original gene and other resulting from a duplication event. However, in some species, I get around 3-4 different sequences. They are with the headings such as complete cds OR mRNA OR gene OR predicted ones OR same headings and all with different nucleotides.

Exactly which sequence should I consider? And if 2 given sequences are due to duplication event, then how do I confirm if they are real duplicated copies?
