Do you mean to simulate an additive manufacturing process?
I implemented my model for Electron Beam Melting process in Abaqus/Standard. At the beginning I used also Ansys (becase I was a new user of Abaqus). I left Ansys defenitely because user codes for the moving heat source and the material state change looked easier to be implemented in Abaqus than Ansys.
Thanks Manuela for your answer. I am working with the ANSYS but while meshing the skewness of elements is increasing that becomes difficult to control. Then I heard that in other tools mesh quality can be controlled easier than ANSYS.
Ankush Choudhary Genoa 3DP is also fully integrated into Ansys Additive Suite (if I am not mistaken). Thank you for suggestion. I would like to hear more about the GEONA experience. Have you compared results to any other software? Kind regards
I have used Simufact Additive to simulate manufacturing processes of a bearing bracket for my senior thesis project to expound total distortion due to thermal effects , and I recommend the software for this purpose. It has friendly interface as much as any other software programs made for FEA. But if you'd like to interfere and consider to anisotropic properties or any other properties, it would be much beneficial to choose SIMULIA.
Abaqus has new keywords for their solver that allow for much better model control. Along with their material models we were able to create a EBWAM model that matched three experimental builds very well.
