There are reasons inherent in the degree work, such as inability to focus on a subject, lack of supervisor willing to supervise the work etc' and there are reasons exterior to the Master or PhD work, such as too much work for living, family obligations etc, that could delay the process of achieving the degree.

Delay may also take place in Ph.D due to unavailability of lab infrastructures and so unecessary wastage of time in waiting for performing measurements in other institutes.

Main factors contributing in delaying of completion of Ph.D. program:

1. System's slackness

2. Researcher's laziness

3. Non cooperation of supervisor

4. Some unseen or unavoidable circumstances

5. Etc. ...!

Very broad and clumsy research topic

Very busy and difficult-to-understand supervisors
