Extreme drought events affect ecosystem functions. Therefore, ecosystem responses to drought are investigated in an increasing number of climate impact studies. Yet, a detailed quantification of the temporal hierarchy of ecosystem functioning under terminal drought event is missing. I wanted to know does anybody has done any experiments to test the temporal hierarchy of ecosystem functioning under drought?
Fragile ecosystem particularly humid regions at the flowering time of rice is more detrimental.

In that study it is highlighted that the duration of the event is very important.
I add that it is correct also what Suchit Rai suggests: crop ecosystems can be particularly sensitive to drought during some special phenological phase, and flowering is a delicate one, also for vines.
I add also that indirect effects can be even more severe: forest fires, more frequent in case of drought, are an example.
