Hi,

I've been reading recommendations of which voltage to use for agarose gel electrophoresis and they are often given in V/cm, where the cm refers to the "distance between the anode and cathode" of the electrophoresis system. I am unsure in which direction the distance is intended to be measured?:

- diagonally across the gel chamber between the anode and cathode?

- only in the direction of the "Y axis" of the chamber between the anode and cathode? (like the direction that the DNA migrates) or

- only in the direction of the "X axis" of the chamber between the anode and cathode?
