Surface guided radiotherapy is the state-of-the-art imaging module for patients who underwent for the radiotherapy. Some commercial available SGRT modules work on the principle of rigid registration algorithm and others work on the basis of DIR algorithm for surface matching. So, which algorithm is best to use in clinics for SBRT of liver cases?
DIR algorithm is better to use in the clinical that gives some leverage to adapt the changes throughout the course of treatment. Nowadays, 3 camera based SGRT systems are in more demand due to availability of surface scanning during the non Coplanar beams from different gantry angles.
VisionRT and C-RAD are commercials solutions for SGRT system.
I agree that DIR will give more leverage to adapt the changes but the same time it will effect the dose delivery by increasing the uncertainty. By keeping that in our mind, Rigid based algorithm will be much effective.
In radiotherapy, in addition to leverage, accuracy and precision will be weighted more. What is your view on it?
There are numerous reports in the literature about the good performance of both systems: DIR-based (such as Catalyst) and rigid ragistration-based (such as VisionRT).
