I got two sub-groups of studies. Under each sub group, I got few studies with sample size and mean of study variable. In this cases whether Student t test can be used to check the significance of differences between grand means of sub-groups. Reading materials regarding above will be highly helpful.

When the population standard deviation is unknown, the Student's t-test is used to test hypotheses regarding the mean of a small sample selected from a normally distributed population.
Use the two-sample t-test to see if the difference in means discovered in the sample differs substantially from the hypothesized difference in means.
When comparing two independent groups, the Student's t-test is utilized, whereas the ANOVA expands the t-test to more than two groups. Both techniques are parametric and assume that the data is normal and that the variances are identical across comparison groups.

Thanks for your response. I got different situations. I got ten research studies with means and sample sizes. I am classifying the ten studies based on its characteristics into two sub groups each having five studies. I have worked grand mean for each sub group. Now can I check whether grand mean of two sub groups significantly different or not through t test? Share reading materials also. Thanks
