When I began to wonder about the methodological approach to identify and analyze the needs in the process of creating technical means (processes of engineering), I came to the conclusion that the methodology related to needs has much in common with the methodology to identify and study the demand in economic sciences. At the same time - for obvious reasons - there is between these shots many fundamental differences.
I believe they are very similar in terms of the processes governing the dynamics of them... I analyzed this -briefly- for the case of SAP. The starting point that I suggest is the perceptions that lead to the generation of new knowledge. This can be something communicated in prices, but also something technological.
