After my previous "general" question (concerning the meaning of treating the idea of Smart City as a scientific problem) I was conditioned to believe that such a meaning exists. Now, I would like to find out - in connection with my interest in "Engineering of Needs" - who and why need the solutions which are included in the "Smart City" model?
In Smartcity we need to improve all facilities and make all services are updated to newest technology where no keys or money or identy card to be carried or used. I also would like that each city keeps its own historical bakground especially its civilization, archeitcture and human culture beside the new modern technology and infrastructures.

The need for smart cities is centric to modernity because of the aspiration to achieve more with less. However, it is important to understand that in this race for 'Smartness', 'human-human' and 'human-rest of nature' relations cannot be put at stake. The problem with post-modern 'development' narrative is that it is ready to sacrifice anything and everything for achieving the material ends.
I know my input is not essentially focused on your question, but we need to understand 'Smartness' from this angle also...
