How in a practical reciprocating engine are you going to add heat either at constant volume OR constant pressure? Can you show a PV curve of your proposed cycle please?

Dual combustion cycle is a closed cycle. The cycle on p- V diagram represents starting from compression is isentropic process, heat addition will be first by constant volume and next at constant pressure, expansion will be at isentropic process and heat rejection is at constant volume. All the operations are confined in internal combustion engine cylinder This is an ideal cycle developed after Otto and Diesel cycles which are also closed cycles. From this dual combustion cycle, ideal air standard efficiency and mean effective pressure are found.

Gas Turbines work on Brayton cycle not on dual combustion cycle. The closed cycle on p- V diagram represents starting from compression is isentropic process, heat addition will be at constant pressure, expansion will be at isentropic process and heat rejection is at constant pressure. Gas turbine also work on open cycle (heat rejection not at constant pressure but left to atmosphere) and semi closed cycle (a part of air is entered at inlet and part of gas is left to atmosphere).
