Being a researcher is it publication or impact factors? I know sensible people would argue one should always concentrate for good work/publication and not think for those impact factors because these so-called journal impact factors are superficial from the inception. But now the point is whenever I apply for any research position, or submit any project proposal, juries start calculating impact factors. Being a researcher in Mathematics, our journals are usually low in impact factors; as a result I go out of competition at the initial stage. It’s a real hard world and Mathematics, I must say, has historically been at the receiving end.
