I am trying to simulate a chassis crash-test, with a model I designed on SolidWorks. This chassis is composed of connected beams, and I imported the 3D model in Abaqus.

It was working pretty well with beams thickness of 5mm and 3mm, but when I tried with a thickness of 1 mm, I have those strange deformations that I can't rely describe (see image). Those deformations occur before the impact, so there is normally no sollicitation on the chassis. I simply apply a velocity field to the whole body.

It seems like the inside layer and the outside layer of the beams act as two independent surfaces, but I am not even sure of that assumption.

Do you have any idea of what causes this problem, and how to solve it ?

Thank you for your help.
