I would like to have information on agarophytes from Asian countries. As far India is concerned, Gelidiella acerosa is the principal source of raw material for production of bacteriological grade agar while Gracilaria edulis is commercially exploited for industrial production of food grade agar. Please let me know, what are the other species commercially harvested or cultivated in neighboring Asian countries. I shall also be grateful, if somebody can share the publications pertaining to their agar characterization.

The recent publications or reports on cultivation of agarophytes from Asian region are added advantage.
