when we need external data of ecological variables for our studies in northwest Spain we obtain them remotely from the COPERNICUS Marine

Environment Monitoring Service website (http://marine.copernicus.

eu) or from the Instituto Español de Oceanografía (http://www.ieo.es). If you are looking for SST averages and you don't plan to use rasters for spatial analysis I suggest you to obtain that information from the IEO.
