When you provide anesthesia for Cesarean Section what percentage of your patients receives spinal or epidural morphine?
No I don't, if you use morphine in dose >=0.5 mg your patient should be admitted to ICU for observation. Despite alot of side effects.
For C.S. spinal anesthesia almost to every parturient we use 0,1-0,2mg morphine sulfate spinal (without conservatives). Small doses of morphine has no severe adverse effects except pruritis (about 70%), but good postoperative analgesia lasts up to 24 hours.
For C.S. epidural we are giving from 2mg to 4mg morphine sulfate at the end of surgery.

Hi my friend I m peruviam , I work in a woman hospital in Lima. We use morphine in cesarean always. for epidural 2 mg of morphine and spinal 100ug, Not has been complications mayor with respiratoy depressing, pruritus only more frecuently . but all patients premedicated with dexamethasone, metoclopramide, or ondasetron.

because of the longer duration of side effects we do not use morphine.We can not observe most of the patients that long.On the other hand patients with intrathecal or epidural morphine therapy has the lowest complain of pain lacking the comfort of fentanyl.

I practice in Argentina and it's not common to use morphine in cesarean deliveries
I often use morphine in cesarean section. I used to utilize larger doses, up to 100 micrograms, but nowadays, I usually utilize 40-60 micrograms, varying according to total body mass index and we see much fewer side effects, comparing to its benefits in pain control.
