Hello, When two Stepped impedance resonators are coupled then two poles are generated to create a passband and two transmission zeros are generated on both sides of pass band. what is the reason for the transmission zero generation?
The poles and zeroes in a resonator represent the case when the single resonator is completely matched and mis-matched.The bandwidth is determined by the material or substrate.
The theory of these filters are based on distributed filter theory. When you couple two step resonators, you also create teo notches (they are calles finite transmissiom zeros in the theory) symettrically at both sides of the passband. If you just use a snigle resonator and couple them you would not see those notches.
