A change in routine can mess up our perception of time, making the first day back to work after a long weekend seem like Monday. We KNOW it's Tuesday, and yet our minds seem to "lose" a day. The same thing happens when we're off on a Friday; Mon - Wed seem normal, but the rush to get things finished seems to transform Thursday into Friday.

What causes this to happen? Is there anything we can do to short-circuit that trick of the mind? Is this a purely neurological occurrence?

Again, I'm looking for research and someone to interview to helps explain this phenomena to the general public.

Thanks!
