Autonomic dysreflexia (AD) is a life-threatening condition. AD is more frequently reported among SCI patients with higher lesions (e.g. cervical lesions). How about patients with lower lesions?
Autonomic dysreflexia could be a fatal event in patients with spinal cord injury at T6 or higher. Therefore, all patients with this lesion, even if incomplete, should be monitored during urodynamic studies. There are some risk factors that increase the likelihood, such as age (more risk in young people) and high maximum detrusor pressure during urination. Attached you will find an article on this topic.
