the Pb heavy metals sensing in water using fiber some times I got blue shift when the ppm 5,10,15 but when go down to low ppm ( the refractive index equal to water RI ( such as 1, 0.1 0.001 ppm I got red shift. I repeated the experiment but same results ..do you think this is logically or logically not true??? thanks for help
SPR should not be used for trace element analysis! ICP is better adapted for this if you want bulk analysis of the water.
I found way to use it with bulk water efficiently with minimum erosion for sensing layer
If the peak is shifting with pH changes there must be some complex ion formation. If I were trying to do [Pb] I would be using ICP
Or, for one selected heavy metal, graphite furnace AA is fine also and straightforward.
I agree with Patrick Sharrock fo r trace amounts of Pb.
But if you must use the less expensive method which is also time-saving,
you might consider first concentrating your sample by evaporation to
remove most of the water. But be careful not to use a vessel made of Pb
(Ha, Ha!)

thanks for all I am trying to fix many problems in fiber optics sensor and most these problems was solved by using new materials that gives high stability for fiber even with moving fiber beside reducing the break fiber issue to minimum value.....
