I'm doing some Boehm's titration's to work out the amount of oxygen basic groups present on my carbons. So I've added 50 ml of HCl to 1 g of carbon. I've done this in duplicate and I'm going to titrate each duplicate plus the blank with NaOH 0.05 M.
Since I'm using the blank as a reference, could I avoid doing the measurement in duplicate (I have just a small amount of carbon available).

However, as regards the blank, I should expect 50 ml of HCl to be neutralised by 50 ml of NaOH since both solutions have the same concentration (0.05 M), right?
On the other hand, am I supposed to detract the volume of NaOH consumed to titrate the blank (50 ml of HCl) from the volume consumed to titrate the sample (5 ml of HCl in excess not reacted with carbon), is it correct?
Actually I just prepared the solutions (HCl/NaOH) without standardising them.
So basicly, the blank coincide with the solution standardisation (i.e. titration of HCl with NaOH and viceversa), right?
However, is it supposed to do standardise both solutions (NaOH and HCl) before applying the procedure or I can do it aftewards and use the actual concentrations rather than the nominal ones for calculating the surface groups?
