A (materials) phase is defined by either a unique structure and/or chemical composition. When phases are very similar (e.g. doping, solid solution), when do we start to talk about different phases? Is it acceptable, if any phase property shows a significant difference, e.g. the backscattered coefficient in scanning electron microscopy images?
