Research on the population size of the common spadefoot in different parts of the Dutch province of Noord-Brabant. How can I compare if there's a significant difference between the population sizes of those five years? What statistical test could best use, preferably in SPSS or R-statistics?
It would help if we knew how abundance was estimated. Trapping technique, number of traps, transect, quadrat sampling, that sort of thing.

The abundance is estimated by a listening technique. This technique uses a kind of hydrophone to listen to the sound of calling spadefoots toads in the water. The toads are being listened to during multiple evenings; afterwards the data of all evenings are combined. The highest abundance that is measured in one pool or waterbody in that area during one of the evenings, is used to describe the total amount of toads in that waterbody. Afterwards the highest amounts of all the waterbodies together are combined to estimate the population in that area of the relevant year.
