All I can find it that ACTH is not stable in any medium, is there any evidence to back it up.? It is just not done. The serum samples are spinned and frozen within 30 minutes after taking them, is it worth validating them?
Babli is right if you use EDTA you keep fibrinogen in the sample, and it is plasma.
I collected my samples as Ekkerhard explain and it work very well. I also add ~ 2 ul of Protease Inhibitor Cocktail Sigma P8340 (is a mixture of protease inhibitors) and I was able to process the samples several months after it was collected.
Unfortunately no EDTA samples were taken. Although the samples were spinned and cooled within 30 minutes and stored at -80 C I am afraid I will not get a proper reading from my ACTH if I summarize your responses. Also because they have been stored for 3 years. Thanks anyway.
